January Book Club-The Wild Remedy by Emma Mitchell
There’s something climatic about the Christmas celebrations that leaves me feeling a bit out of sorts in January and not ready to embrace another two long months of winter and the dark days and cold weather that go with it.
So, here is the challenge… to enjoy these two dark and bleak months ahead…Easier said than done! Snow, icy winds and a very barren garden makes it a huge challenge but as an avid book worm I thought a monthly non-fiction book club would be a good antidote. And something fun to share with you all. I haven’t picked fiction books but rather books that celebrate nature, natural living and the seasons as these are the kind of books I love dipping into and Im sure you will too.
This month I have picked a very beautiful new release from Emma Mitchell for the January Book Club and a few for my toddler too (as a beautiful children’s book gives me equal pleasure!)
January Book Club Choice:
The Wild Remedy by Emma Mitchell
A lot of you will already know Emma from her stunning Instagram account @silverpebble2 and her first book Making Winter.
I feel like Emma and I could be kindred spirits, as her new book The Wild Remedy really sums up my approach to seasonal living and my relationship with nature.
The Wild Remedy is a diary style book, divided into months, with each month being a glorious exploration of nature and seasonal mindset. Of course, in true Emma style, there are sweet illustrations and beautiful photographs to go along with each chapter.
I chose this as the January Book Club pick because it will undoubtably bring to life these winter months, inspire you to get outside and also every purchase supports a talented writer.
So how does the Book Club work?
First up grab a copy of Emma’s book The Wild Remedy! Pop over to my Nature & Nourish FB group and be sure to join in the conversation around the book, and share any insights!
We’ll be checking back in with this read at the end of the month too and regularly on my Instagram stories.
Little January Book Club Choices:
Ok so onto my January Book club choices for little ones. I couldn’t resist having a few beautiful books for children too, as I am a complete book addict and so is my little boy!
The Story of the Snow Children by Sibylle Von Olfers
My first choice is this stunning classic by Sibylle Von Olfers. The story of the snow children is similar to that of the Snow Queen but with some wonderful art nouveau style illustrations and gentle text that will charm any young child.
The Very Long Sleep by Polly Noakes
This beautifully illustrated book wasn’t on my radar until I saw it as a suggestion on Amazon and on further investigation I discovered it was a perfect choice for our winter book shelves. Its a short toddler friendly story about a fox, chipmunk, marmot and bear that live together in a forest home and how hibernation effects them all.
