After a long and cold Spring, summer is finally here on the North Coast of Ireland. And the farm has responded to the warmer days with a burst of growth and activity!

We’ve been non-stop with events. From agricultural shows, horse trials and food festivals, we’ve taken the street food trailer all around Ireland serving up delicious goat and veal to the masses! We also hosted our annual Open Farm Weekend which was bigger and better than ever! The garden has suddenly flourished too. The longer days and warmth makes such a difference and suddenly I have flowers on my nasturtiums and the basil is starting to grow. (we are definitely behind a good month on the growing though!)

fairhead ballycastle farm-blog-life-on-the-farm-cows-antrim-1024x769Charlie has been farming more than ever, making the most of the drier weather to manage the fields. We have an amazing crop of Barley growing in one of our rented fields which is just like a sea of green, so beautiful! It’s also been fantastic to see the grass grow so quickly, it certainly makes the cows happy! I’ve been making the most of the beautiful beaches on the sunnier days-getting a chance to swap my indoor yoga for some beach stretching! Heaven!

We also recently got some pigs! I’ve been looking forward to getting the pigs since last year, and I haven’t been disappointed! They are absolutely brilliant and becoming great characters! We’ve also seen a few new chicks too!
