About

A Journey to a Rooted Life

Hello and welcome, I’m Becky Cole,  herbalist, artist and regnerative farmer.

I have the privilege to work and live on 50 acres of wild, regenerative land nestled close to the sea in Northern Ireland.

I am a trained herbalist having studied under some incredible mentors such as Juliet Blankespoor, Marysia Miernowska, Jade Shutes amongst others, I am also a Permaculture Designer having got my certificate from Applewood Permaculture and I have a particular interest in using permaculture to enrich our own personal lives.

Nature connection, rewilding and plant communication is a large part of my daily practice and how I approach the environmental crisis. I love to teach others the art of foraging, embracing wild food, making hedgerow remedies and healing the land through regenerative practices.

You can find me on my podcast Nature & Nourish, but most regularly on my membership Rooted where I share monthly workshops and seasonally inpsired audios. I also teach regular workshops on the north coast of Ireland.

I first stumbled into herbalism aged around 7 when I came across a book by Juliette de Bairacli Levy and became enthralled by the world of plants and their uses. I went on to follow in my mother’s (the Irish artist Lucy Doyle) footsteps and studied at art college and art history at Trinity College Dublin and honed my painting skills. At around the same time I started a popular fashion and beauty blog and became a mainstay of the Irish magazines, featured regularly and was signed to the Andrea Roche modelling agency. Despite my love of the industry I had stumbled into I began to feel a call back to countryside, and when I met my now husband Charlie my next journey began!

Charlie and I have spent the last 13 years working together to create Broughgammon Farm, a sustainable, regenerative farm based in Northern Ireland.  We have a diverse and exciting business with a farm shop and cafe, artisan butchery, charcuterie, meat boxes, classes, supper clubs, 2 acres of veg and more!

We also have two gorgeous little boys which keep us very busy.

I am also a working artist and my work can be found at The Doorway Gallery in Dublin and the 1608 Gallery in Bushmills. My paintings reflect my love of the countryside and my daily life on the farm.

I hope you’ll stick around and sign up to my newsletter to keep in touch. If you’re interested in learning more about my membership you can click the link below. Thank you for being here . xx
